It's once again my favorite sport games of all time. The Beijing Olympics 2008. Eight is an auspicious number in Chinese culture. The event started on 8th August 2008, 8:08pm. The Greatest Olympian of all times, Michael Phelps has achieved his dreams - 8 gold medals!
It is one of the greatest miracles I ever seen. It's very tough to get 1 gold, let alone a person getting 8 gold medals and breaking the world records! I'm amazed by Michael Phelps for achieving so much in pursuiting his dreams!
On the other hand, I have seen a documentary, "Little big dreams". It's about a Chinese 9 year old kid sent to Local Athletic School. His family was poor. Their dream was to make him into an Olympian in future. However, he doesn't have the advantage of a good body for learning gymnastic. He told the reporter that if other kids have to practice 200 stunts, he got to practice 400 stunts. His instructor hits him like mad whenever he makes a mistake but that's part of the tough training. He will throw big temper and crying but he is a kid afterall. His parents felt so sad for their own kid but they have no choice... 7 people have pin all their hopes on him!
They interviewed the instructor. He is not only imparting the skills but he also wanted to teach the kids about life lessons. If the kids cant even endure such pain, he will not be able to achieving anything in future. His instructor's aim is to push every students potential to the fullest.
True enough after going through tough training, they have to go through a test which held every year, to test whether he can make into the Olympic training school. The big dreams and hopes come the family were dashed if their kids did not make it to the school. Fortunately, this perseverance little kid made it and all the pain and sadness seems to disappear....
It's endurance. It's strength. It's pressure... I SALUTE to all athletics for making the impossible possible!!! That's the true spirit of an Olympian!
