W centers on the clash between "two worlds": the real world and an alternate universe inside a webtoon. W, the title of the drama. It consists of 16 episodes.
Oh Sung Moo, the father of cardiothoracic surgeon Oh Yeon Joo (Han Hyo-joo), mysteriously goes missing while writing the last chapter of his webtoon "W". Yeon Joo goes to his office looking, but a hand from his monitor suddenly pulls her in, and she finds herself on the rooftop of a building, next to a man bloodied. She manages to save the person, only to realize that he is Kang Cheol (Lee Jong-suk), the main character of her father's webtoon. Yeon Joo later discovers she can only enter and leave the webtoon depending on Kang Cheol's feelings.
W is an exciting, fast-paced, fantasy-thriller drama that leaves me constantly guessing on the flow of the drama. The storyline is extremely unique and the main leads did a fantastic job in playing their roles. The acting was powerful and I really felt for them in some of the scenes. W has a strong start and bittersweet ending. The ending to the drama mirrors the ending to the webtoon, in the sense that it's sad but realistic – the paradox of Kang Chul and Oh Seung-moo's existence made it impossible for both to survive.
W was quite a ride! A great fantasy story in place with very capable casts. There was never a dull moment. There were a lot of twists and turns in W. Never get to comfortable because you just never know what’s going to happen in this crazy world. The storyline makes the drama so intriguing and it does makes me wonder if parallel world do exist.
